In 2021, Hidro Solo celebrates 40 years of operation in Brazil. A success story, drawn from a cohesive trajectory, which includes agriculture, modernization of water treatment and access to basic sanitation in the country. As part of this celebration, we prepared this content to tell a little about the history of our brand, the evolution of the market over these four decades, as well as changes, success stories and projections.
History that begins in a period of high sugarcane production
In a growing demand for sugar production in Alagoas, at the beginning of the 1980s, when more than 1,250,000 tons of the product were transported through the Port of Maceió, there were around twenty-seven sugar factories in operation. These plants had a high demand, requiring their raw material, sugar cane, produced especially in the forest zone region of the state. And like all crops, ways were needed to guarantee this production even with the region's cyclical climate instability.
In periods of little rain, water was still abundant, creating the need for the use of irrigation systems. However, the logistical difficulties in delivering components for irrigation systems, coming from the southeast of the country, compromised planting. It was there that, in 1981, Hidro Solo Indústria e Comércio Ltda was formalized. which started to produce complementary components for such irrigation projects.
With facilities in the Industrial District of Maceió/AL, Hidro Solo expanded its production, developing more equipment, starting to manufacture complete irrigation systems, serving an area of more than 45 thousand hectares.
Product evolution
Irrigation systems for sugarcane production from local mills and suppliers remained the main product manufactured for a few years. Little by little, resellers spread across the country, especially in southeastern Brazil, began to order Hidro Solo irrigation products, shifting the focus to other crops in addition to sugar cane.
Pipes, connections, self-propelled sets, hose reels, motor pumps and sprinkler cannons were some of the products manufactured over the years. All adopting new technologies, produced after detailed studies, always receiving feedback from customers and resellers. Always with the conviction that the market vision is not dissociated from the customer’s needs. It is an integrated perception, taking one to two years to place new products on the market.
And as evolution has always been a concern, little by little the company expanded its offering of irrigation products, such as filtration systems for localized irrigation, screen filters, priming tanks, anti-vacuum valves, among others.
Based on its already consolidated experience in the manufacture of irrigation products, Hidro Solo also developed technologies and equipment for water treatment, such as crepines, sand, anthracite, zeolite and activated carbon filters, double filtration systems, denitratifiers, softeners and confined flow bottoms for sand filters, the patented Pluvitec Blocks.
After developing technologies and products aimed at water treatment, Hidro Solo began offering its equipment to large basic sanitation and water supply companies in Brazil based on tenders and contracts. Sanasa, Sabesp, Corsan, BRK, Aegea, among other customers, purchased Hidro Solo products from the Pluvitec line, which are part of the Pluvitec Blocks and Crepinas, for use in their projects, mainly renovations and readjustment of sand filters for water treatment (ETA).
These partnerships have resulted in impressive numbers and a massive brand presence in Brazil and in South American countries. There are more than 12,500 m² of sand filters using Pluvitec Blocks and Crepinas in water treatment plants in more than 50 locations in Brazil. There are more than 450 thousand units of Pluvitec Crepinas sold alone. And telling.
These numbers measure the importance of developing technologies, improving the manufacturing field, strengthening relationships with partners, resellers and customers and anticipating market trends and needs. 40 years have been celebrated with the certainty that there is a lot to come. For the coming years, new launches, more technology and a lot of commitment to offering quality, solutions and efficient service are the guiding principles that make Hidro Solo a consolidated brand in the market.
