The Function of Crepines in Water Treatment Filters

Nozzles are fundamental items in the process of particle retention in water treatment filters. Basically, the nozzles are diffuser nozzles installed at the base of filters used in water treatment systems, and their main function is to ensure that the filter material remains retained in the filter itself, allowing only water to pass through its slits.

Despite a range of nozzles available in the market, Hidro Solo has created and patented a nozzle with superior quality and durability: Pluvitec Nozzles. They are made of nylon and fiberglass (body) and polypropylene (discs), assembled in the form of stacked discs, ensuring high resistance.

Collapse-Proof

One of the main issues with filtration system downtime is nozzle collapse, where sand invades the system, forcing premature filter disassembly and repair to reinstall the same nozzle, continuing the same risk.

Pluvitec Nozzles have a housing injected with engineering plastic reinforced with fiberglass, which, along with its design and stacked discs, becomes completely collapse-proof. There will be no issues, even during assembly, if workers step on them. (Click here to check the Pluvitec Nozzles' resistance test video.)

Extremely Low Head Loss

The construction design of the discs and the number assembled in the Pluvitec Nozzle provide a total passage area of 23.8cm² to 30 cm², with individual opening (each groove) of 0.4mm or 2mm. This ensures extremely low head loss, allowing fewer units per square meter, meaning the spacing between nozzles can be extended from 12 to 15 cm (as used with other nozzles) to 17 to 20 cm with Pluvitec Nozzles. The nozzles currently available in the market have a passage area of 2 to 3 cm², which is 10 times less.

Since the backwash flow is 3 to 4 times the operating flow, this large passage area and low head loss become even more critical.

Support Layer

Pluvitec Nozzles eliminate the need for multiple support layers. It is recommended to install only a pilot bed. This provides more available height for the filter bed.

We offer various models and thread options for connection to the filter bottom, including nozzles with calibrated tubes for air injection during backwashing.
